Consultations to join LST
We are delighted to announce that we are formally consulting with the stakeholders of two schools that would like to join our Trust.
Sedgefield Community College’s (SCC) governing body agreed to progress the process of becoming an academy within the Trust and have made an application to the Regional Schools Commissioner for Head Teacher Board approval. SCC is a popular and successful secondary school in County Durham judged by Ofsted to be outstanding. The SCC team has already been working closely with Excelsior Academy (EA) as part of the DfE ONE Vision school improvement programme aligning teaching and learning models.
It is fantastic news that this partnership will become formalised as SCC will bring strength and expertise to both of our secondary schools within all-through settings. Our well established and growing trust will provide opportunities for staff, and an enhanced experience for all pupils, supported by The Irvine Laidlaw Foundation. We look forward to working closely with our colleagues at SCC who we know share the important philosophy of putting children at the centre of everything we do.
Pennywell Early Years Centre (PEYC) is a long established nursery school in Sunderland providing outstanding provision to 0-4 year olds, many of whom progress into Academy 360’s (A360) Reception class. We are equally as pleased to report that its governing body has agreed to become part of A360 bringing with it excellent early years practice that can be shared across the Trust. PEYC fits very well with LST, colleagues already work closely on the careful transition of nursery children into school and embed a ‘whole child’ approach throughout.
Both schools will be excellent additions to our Trust, we look forward to a bright future serving children and families and transforming lives through inspirational education. Please see documentation below:
