I am proud and privileged to be the CEO of Laidlaw Schools Trust, a growing multi academy trust in the North East of England, serving children and families in the west of Newcastle and in Pennywell, Sunderland. We pride ourselves in being a progressive, inclusive trust that supports every child to develop their talents whatever they may be and to reach their academic potential. It is important that as a learning organisation we adapt and change to the needs of our pupils. We take care to value and develop all colleagues to make sure they can do their very best for children across the Trust’s schools.

We strive to prepare our children to become confident successful citizens by providing a good academic foundation on which to progress onto further and higher education or training, as well as into the workplace. We place a great importance on developing the whole child and encourage extra curricular activities and enrichment. This is supported by our generous sponsor Lord Laidlaw – without his support we could not provide such a rich offer of arts, sports and cultural experiences.

Our Vision

To transform the lives of children and communities in the North of England, through inspirational education.

Our Mission

Working in partnership with children, their families and the wider community, we will provide a safe and nurturing environment for each child, irrespective of ability or background. We will empower them to believe in themselves and to embrace the future as active, respectful and responsible citizens.

Our Sponsor

The Laidlaw Schools Trust family of academies is a growing success story – and it’s easy to see why.

A clear vision from the Trust’s Trustees for the success of its academies, highly skilled professional staff and the generous financial support of our sponsor Lord Laidlaw, combine to ensure exceptional pupil progress. The Trust continues to grow with six schools currently LST academies.

We are looking to expand further, to welcome more schools in Tyne and Wear into the LST family. If you’d like to learn more about how your school can become an LST academy, please contact our Chief Executive Jane Spence:
